New Dealer Only Car Sales Platform - Motortrademail.com.au!

Posted by Damaged-vehicles.com on Monday, December 5, 2011,

So we have noticed a new used car sales platform just been launched in Australia for motor dealers only to buy, sell, request cars and also to request wholesale pricing in a fully automated style, linking dealers and wholesalers together across the web! Now this sound logical, but amazingly no other system appears to exist in this market place let alone operate in a fully automated, real time sequence - is this a new phase to replace the auction model possibly?

What intrigues us about this mod...

UK Salvage Qualifications!

Posted by Damaged-vehicles.com on Monday, July 18, 2011,
The damaged-vehicle industry in the UK is, like others, faced with a number of enforced qualifications, which, like it or not and despite in some cases very serious objections and challenges are apparently unlikely to simply “go away”. It is therefore in the interest of every company affected by these enforced qualifications to “fall in line”. The CoTC Technically Competent Manager (TCM) qualification comes into force next February 2012, although it is being challenged as this is bein...

Operational Update on NSW Legislation

Posted by Damaged-Vehicles.com on Sunday, May 29, 2011,
Well we have now operationally experienced a few months of this new legislation and it appears that the Gov't has opened up a new loop hole, as we all new it would do! So what appears to be happening now is that NSW buyers are purchasing vehicles from all other states, repairing them using the cheap purchased vehicles from NSW (better quality vehicles at cheaper prices than outside of NSW or dare we say the continuation of stolen vehicles in NSW used on non NSW purchased and sold vehicles), t...

EU Investigate Why Scrappage Car Numbers Don't Add Up

Posted by Damaged-Vehicles.com on Sunday, May 29, 2011,

THE EUROPEAN Commission is investigating why the number of certificates of destruction for end-of-life vehicles in Ireland falls far short of the number of vehicles coming off the road.

According to the commission, statistics from Ireland and several other member states indicate that there are a “significant number” of vehicles the whereabouts of which are unknown as they have not been issued with a certificate of destruction. Such a certificate must be issued by authorised treatment fac...

Prodrive contracts awarded

Posted by Damaged-Vehicles.com on Friday, March 11, 2011,

Prodrive has exchanged contracts with three manufacturers of sports and luxury cars in order to provide a selection of carbon composite vehicle components.

The deal will see parts developed for an estimated total of 5,000 vehicles over a space of six years, with the agreements worth more than £10 million.

This increase in carbon car parts could also be reflected in the damaged-vehicle sector if more consumers adopt environmentally-friendly measures and recycle their vehicles' materials.

So if we were to speculate that the recession hasn't quite hit Australia as yet, would you take notice?
Does the spirilling house prices and interest rate rises not curbed by rising inflation not make sense?
We know the commodities markets are booming thanks to China, and the knock on effect to our industry
is scrap metal prices. This indecy is rising thanks to China, and making some people very wealthy, but

Repairable Write Off's NSW Update

Posted by Damaged-Vehicles.com on Monday, January 3, 2011,
As most of us know the new NSW legislation hasn't officially gone live as yet, this is meant
to happen January 31, but it was also meant to be live Q4 last year in 2010! It is also believed that
motorcycles will not be included in this until later in 2011, but no date has been set.

Let's all consider that the legislation continues to be pushed back, at least until the state elections
upon which time the liberal state government has declared that they will not back the NSW written off vehicle ...

Written-off vehicle reforms

Official extract from the NSW RTA

Changes to written-off vehicle laws management
On 10 January 2011, the New South Wales Government will introduce laws which aim to improve
road safety and consumer protection, and clamp down on vehicle theft, re-birthing and related crime.

Vehicles assessed as a total loss after the legislation is introduced, will be classified as statutory
(non-repairable) write-offs. This means they cannot be registered and can only be used for par...

NSW Repairable Write Off Legislation (update)

Posted by Damaged-Vehicles.com on Friday, October 22, 2010,
Well it is official, last night Oct 21 2010 the new NSW repairable write off bill was passed as legislation
in parliament with the view of it going live from Nov 2 2010.

What this means is that you will no longer be able to purchase a written off vehicle in NSW to re-register
it, only if the vehicle is outside of certian restrictions will you be able to do this..you can read a past blog
about what these restrictions look like. So does this mean that we will get cheaper used parts due to the

Vehicle write-off plan wins approval

A national theft reduction body says a NSW ban on re-registering written-off vehicles is “a step forward” in efforts to stop car re-birthing across the state.

However, preventing written-off vehicles from being re-registered in other states is a hurdle still to be faced.

The NSW Government introduced legislation last week prohibiting the re-registration of all written-off vehicles in NSW from next month.

Where Does This Leave the Damaged Vehicle Industry In Australia Now?

  • introducing the new NSW legislation to ban all repairable write off's (Vic and QLD are also looking at how this goes before bringing it into the respective states after NSW
